The Galeria Bielska BWA in the southern city of Bielsko-Biała is hosting four exhibitions drawn from the rich and variegated program of the third international Foto Art Festival (FAF) until the end of October.

Rus, a large-scale documentary exhibition by Belgian photographer Gert Jochems that depicts life in Siberia, is on display in the downstairs gallery. There are three outstanding exhibitions in the upstairs gallery. Cuban Interiors by Dutch documentary photographer Robert van der Hilst is a colorful depiction of the "Cuban soul." Italian photographer Giacomo Costa presents computer-processed images of contemporary civilization. Requiem for the 20th Century showcases the work of Japanese photographer Yasumasa Morimura (his work "Dictator" pictured above).

More than 20 large individual exhibitions of prominent photographers from almost as many countries are also being staged in galleries, museums and other venues in Bielsko-Biała over two weeks. Almost all the artists are coming to Bielsko-Biała Oct. 17-18 to meet with the public as part of the "Authors' Marathon."

Most of the festival exhibitions are being presented in Poland for the first time and they are only being shown in Bielsko-Biała. Viewers can take in contemporary photographs as well as older works on loan from museum collections, color as well as black and white, and a broad range of forms including portraits, landscapes, and documentary, journalistic and experimental works.
