Jarosław Kurzawa, chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 20th-Anniversary Commemoration of the Reconciliation Mass at Krzyżowa:

During the upcoming Polish-German economic summit at Krzyżowa, which will be attended by ministers from Poland and Germany, we want to underline the significance of the historic events which led to the collapse of communist totalitarianism in Central Europe 20 years ago. We will unveil a plaque to commemorate the anniversary and announce a manifesto entitled The Future of Europe, but we also want to summarize history so far and ask ourselves what comes next. We want to analyze the cultural and economic development of the two countries and examine their condition in the context of the changes taking place in the world.

Since the summit will attract the most prominent figures of Polish business and science, it will be a good opportunity to talk about some vital issues such as the energy sector and nuclear power. The energy security of Poland is always a topical and important issue. We are also planning to stimulate cooperation between Poland and Germany, also in Lower Silesia, in terms of advanced technology. This is sure to strengthen our region's position on the European market.
