American trumpeter Chris Botti will be performing at the Wielki Theater-National Opera in Warsaw Nov. 10 as part of his Chris Botti Tour 2009, which also takes in Zabrze, £ód¼, Cracow and Poznañ. Botti is making his fifth visit to Poland.

Botti, born in 1962, is categorized as a smooth jazz trumpeter who straddles the boundary between jazz standards and pop and rock. He began learning to play the trumpet at the age of 10, and lists American jazz trumpeter Miles Davis (1926-1991) and Polish jazz trumpeter Tomasz Stañko among his influences. He has gone on to record and perform with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, Sting, Joni Mitchell, Andrea Bocelli and Steven Tyler from Aerosmith.

Botti's career began in earnest in 1990 with a five-year stint with Paul Simon. Botti's first solo album, First Wish, came out in 1995 and was a hit with jazz and pop fans alike. He now has 12 solo albums to his credit, of which To Love Again (2000), featuring Michael Bublé, Jill Scott, Sting and Paula Cole, and Italia (2007), featuring works by some of Italy's most famous composers, particularly stand out.

The artist's latest recording, Chris Botti in Boston, was released in June this year. The album, which is also out on DVD, is a recording of a 2008 Botti concert with special guests Sting, Josh Groban, Steven Tyler, Yo-Yo Ma, John Mayer, Katharine McPhee, Lucia Micarelli and Sy Smith.
