Indesit Company, a leading producer of household appliances in Europe, has invested around 240 million euros (almost zl.1 billion) in Poland so far. Poland plays a key role in the corporation's global policy, along with Italy, Britain and Russia.

Indesit Company is the second largest producer of household appliances in Europe with a market share of 15 percent. It is the market leader in Britain, Russia, Portugal, Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine and a leader in France, Poland, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Greece.

In 2008, the Indesit group boasted sales worth 3.2 billion euros. The company produces 15 million appliances a year, including washing machines, tumble dryers, washing machines/tumble dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, kitchen stoves and induction cookers.

Indesit Company has 17 production plants in Italy, Poland, Britain, Russia, Turkey and China and 24 sales offices around the world. The corporation employs a total of 17,000 people. The group's main brands are Indesit, Hotpoint-Ariston and Scholtes.

Indesit has operated in Poland since 1992, when it opened a sales office in Warsaw. Good sales results and expansion plans on European markets prompted Indesit Company to launch production in Poland. The first Indesit facility opened in September 1999 in £ód¼ and produced stand-alone Indesit and Ariston kitchen stoves for markets across Europe. In October 2004, a second Indesit production plant was opened in £ód¼, manufacturing stand-alone refrigerators sold on many markets.

The two plants consolidated Indesit's ties with the £ód¼ region and with such positive experience, Indesit felt encouraged to keep enlarging the industrial zone. The latest Indesit project is located in Radomsko and comprises two new factories built for over 80 million euros in a record time of 12 months. The facilities were launched last year and produce washing machines and stand-alone dishwashers. They employ state-of-the-art technological processes, which makes them the most modern plants of the entire Indesit group.

The firm's main office in Poland is in £ód¼, where the management board works and the departments of marketing, sales and logistics are based. £ód¼ is also home to Indesit's Accounting Center for the Czech Republic, Hungary, Britain and Italy. In total, Indesit Company Polska has over 3,000 employees.

The company aims to maintain strong ties with the region, local authorities and organizations. It has joined forces with the £ód¼ Special Economic Zone and the authorities of £ód¼ and Radomsko to organize a number of events, including the Convention of Indesit Company Suppliers (a series of meetings aiming to encourage Italian companies to invest in the region and thus create new jobs), and support initiatives such as the "Young in £ód¼" program, "Education Zone" and "Professionally for £ód¼." Indesit works closely with the largest public and private universities in £ód¼, including the £ód¼ University of Technology, the University of £ód¼ and the Community College of Enterprise and Management. The results include a large number of students obtaining internships at Indesit, while Indesit helps organize and takes part in the Academic Labor Fair and the Economic Knowledge Competition.

Indesit also works for charity, joining forces on a regular basis with the Gajusz Foundation, Caritas in the £ód¼ archdiocese, the Alliance of Families Association, and the Bednarska Children's Home in £ód¼.

Indesit Company Polska has won numerous awards. It was named Leader of Modern Technologies 2006 in the Large Enterprise category, and won the 2008 Economic Award of the £ód¼ Province Governor, in the "Foreign Investment in the Province" category.
