New Italian Restaurant Opens
November 18, 2009
Article's tools:

Well-known Polish restaurateur Magda Gessler has opened an Italian restaurant on Warsaw's Old Town Square.

Called Trattoria Bellini, the new restaurant is located in the Gothic basement of the Kamienica Krokodyla tenement house. Sized over 600 square meters, Trattoria Bellini occupies several rooms, each with a different interior decor. The air is filled with the scent of herbs mixed with aromatic pizza baked before the patrons' eyes.

Rosemary garlands, white stove tiles, Italian glass, wood, classic tables, a rich selection of wines and a menu of typical Italian dishes all give Trattoria Bellini the atmosphere of an eatery in the heart of Tuscany.

One of the most remarkable dishes at Trattoria Bellini is the White Pizza with rocket salad, white mushrooms, mozzarella, pear, Provolone cheese and pine nuts.

"This autumn, the White Pizza will be the most desirable delicacy," Gessler says. "Instead of telling me fairy tales, my Italian grandmother used to whisper in my ear about the mysterious and delicious world of the Italian kingdom of flavors. She inspired me with her love for traditional Italian cuisine, which is why my trattoria is not about sophisticated names or sumptuousness. This underground Italian realm is open to everybody. This place will always resound with music, songs, clinking plates, hubbub, fun and joy, just like in Italy."

The trademark of Trattoria Bellini will be reasonably priced large meals. Alongside traditional Italian dishes, the menu will feature special dishes for children, such as pizza with chocolate spread.
