Finlandia Vodka won four awards in the Vodka Masters 2009 competition in November. More than 120 brands from all over the world took part in the international competition. Finlandia Vodka won medals in the main blind tasting categories: Masters Award for Finlandia Tangerine Fusion (Scandinavian category), Gold Medal for Finlandia Vodka (Premium category), Gold Medal for Finlandia Lime Fusion (flavored vodka category) and Silver Medal for Finlandia Mango Fusion (Scandinavian category).

"We are very proud of the four prestigious awards in this year's Vodka Masters," said Maureen Brekka, Finlandia Vodka managing director. "We are also happy that a Gold Medal in the Premium category was won by our classical vodka. Our flavored vodkas are so good because they originate from pure vodka, to which we add the freshest flavors of nature. This was reflected by the awards for flavored brands."

Over the past several years Finlandia Vodka has become a global leader in flavored vodka production and was one of the first premium brands to introduce natural flavored brands. The first one, Cranberry Fusion Vodka, appeared in 1994 and was flavored with Arctic cranberries.

In 1999, Finlandia Lime Fusion with a fresh lime flavor made its debut. The company put out two new flavors in 2004-the refreshing cranberry-flavored Finlandia Redberry with the fruit's natural coloring, and Finlandia Mango Fusion, a combination of Finlandia's mild taste with original mango flavor. In 2006, Finlandia Grapefruit Fusion appeared on the market.

Cranberry and Redberry have a strong position among imported flavored vodkas. Finlandia Grapefruit Fusion, one of the company's hits, is popular worldwide. It received a Double Gold Medal at the World Spirit Competition in San Francisco in 2007; the highest, five-star, rating from Paul Pacult's Spirits Journal; and 96 out of a possible 100 points from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. In September 2008, it won the Master award in the flavored vodka category in the Vodka Masters Competition 2008, held under the auspices of Spirit Business magazine.

New Finlandia

This October, Finlandia Blackcurrant Fusion was launched on the Polish market. Blackcurrant is an aromatic fruit, fresh and delicately dry, with a subtle note of sweetness. The new vodka has a good structure and acidity, with a very delicate bitter note. Studies* have indicated that blackcurrant is among Polish consumers' preferred vodka tastes.
