Irish singer Moya Brennan will be appearing at St. James' Basilica in the western city of Szczecin Dec. 4. to perform Irish Christmas, in which she will be singing Christmas carols from Ireland and around the world.

Brennan, who sometimes goes by her Irish name Maire, has been the lead singer of well-known Irish folk-rock group Clannad since it formed in 1970. The lineup has always featured various Brennan siblings accompanied by their uncles. Brennan's younger sister Eithne, better known as Enya, was in the band from 1979 until 1982. Clannad is one of Ireland's best known musical exports, along with U2. Their peculiar blend of folk and rock with a good measure of new age thrown in has won them legions of fans all over the world. Their albums Magical Ring (1983), Legend (1984) and Macalla (1985), on which Moya sings a duet with U2 lead singer Bono, are worldwide mega-sellers. Polish listeners are certainly no strangers to Legend. The album was the soundtrack to the TV series Robin of Sherwood which was popular here during the 1980s. Brennan has had a parallel solo career since 1992, during which time she has put out several highly acclaimed and popular albums.
