Works that won awards in a competition for the best souvenir from Poland were displayed at Warsaw's State Ethnographic Museum.

The competition was held to mark the 60th year of the Cepelia Foundation, which promotes Polish folk arts and crafts. The judges handed out a total of 20 prizes in the categories of Tradition and Inspiration.

The aim of the competition, which lasted two months, was to generate new ideas for souvenirs promoting Poland. The competition drew 447 entrants with 894 works. The jury gave out second and third prizes as well as a number of merit awards. No first prize was given.

The winners of the second prizes each received zl.9,000, and the third-prize winners claimed zl.5,000 per person. A merit award carried a cash prize of zl.1,400 from a total pool of zl.75,600.

The second prize in the Inspiration category went to Bogusław ¦liwiński for his embroidered napkins, and the third prize in the Tradition category went to Beata Legierska for her lacework phone sleeve.

Cepelia is an institution with 60 years of tradition whose aim is to preserve, develop and promote folk and amateur arts and crafts.
