Power group PGE will likely get a partner for the nuclear power project, deputy PM and Economy Minister Waldemar Pawlak told broadcaster TVN CNBC.

"It's hard to imagine that PGE will shoulder this entire investment project on its own after the [anti-monopoly office] UOKiK blocked the plan of merger with Energa," Pawlak said. "We certainly need to find a new path for the energy sector."

Asked if PGE could build the nuclear power plant in consortium with another power firm, Pawlak said "we'll see."

PGE could be able to launch operations of the first power block in its nuclear power plant in 2023 if the tender for technology provision is announced this year, head of EMEA region in Westinghouse Electric Company (a prospective bidder) told the daily Parkiet.

PGE is expected to complete the block within 48 months from construction start, assuming the company already has all administrative permits, Westinghouse Electric Company estimates, while PGE's strategy assumes reaching full power of 3k MW in the plant in 2025, the daily wrote.
