Explosive Crossover

An explosive musical mix known as Living Colour is playing Warsaw's Stodoła Club Jan. 28. Their music is classified as crossover because of the mixture of heavy metal, rock, free jazz, funk, hip hop and other styles they play.

The group started out in New York in 1984 and those music critics who like to pigeonhole artists into neat little categories have had a hard time of it from day one.

Living Colour's first album Vivid came out in 1988. The track "Cult of Personality" took out the 1989 Grammy for "Best Hard Rock Performance."

The group disbanded in 1995 but not before putting out Time's Up (1990) and Stain (1993). Living Colour was put on hold for nearly six years while the various members worked on solo projects before getting back together in 2001. Their fourth studio album, CollideØscope, came out two years later.

Living Colour's Warsaw concert is part of a tour to promote their latest offering The Chair in the Doorway (2009).
