Bartłomiej Andrusiewicz-President, Chief Executive Officer of Wrocławski Park Wodny SA, which manages the city's aquatic leisure center, talks to Barbara Deręgowska.

What sets Wrocław's aqua park apart from other similar facilities in Lower Silesia?
We are the Best Sports Complex of the Year, a title that was awarded to our sports swimming pool. We also have a fitness club with the latest equipment and a unique gym for children. We also have a "saunarium" with several types of sauna and baths, and an exclusive spa and wellness club. The aqua park is composed of several interlinked zones: a recreational pool with many attractions, including slides, a whirlpool bathtub, a "lazy river," outdoor pools and a swimming pool with seating for a large number of spectators. These zones are supplemented by numerous catering outlets-restaurants, cafes and a bistro.

The complex has changed substantially in the past year. What do its users think of this?
The park is undergoing dynamic change. One new feature is a special shallow lane in the swimming pool in the recreation zone. The 90-cm-deep lane was created using a special platform. This allows poor swimmers and disabled people to use the pool. We have an information desk in the entrance hall where customers, including foreigners, can find out the details of what is on offer, what promotions are available and how to buy season tickets or services offered in the wellness zone. There are two self-service ticket machines at the main entrance and next to the sports swimming pool, allowing access through a special gate for those who don't have to pay extra for their tickets. We also have places to leave strollers for parents with small children.

What further plans do you have?
We are working on turning our park into Wrocław's most important center for recreation, sports and entertainment in a broad sense. We are the only aqua park in Poland to be a member of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), which also includes aqua parks. Members include over 4,000 facilities from 93 countries around the world. This is a huge honor for us and confirms the strong position of Wrocławski Park Wodny. We are not resting on our laurels, though, and plan an intensive expansion of our facilities for customers. A new multimedia slide, the only one of its kind in Europe, will start operating before the summer vacation. It's unique because it will provide a choice of different effects for rides. This fall we will open the Sauna House with original décor, many attractions and even a salt cave. This will be a place for all those who enjoy the rituals and ceremonies involved in using a sauna. At the recreational pools, one of the mezzanine levels will be converted into an original play area. Season tickets for 10 visits to the recreational pools and the sauna zone are very popular, as are VIP Vouchers for the spa club. All these changes are aimed at drawing in a growing number of visitors and encouraging people to visit again. In total, we have had over 1.7 million visitors since February 2008.

Apart from attractions connected with water, we plan other attractions as well, such as a regular theater stage on the water. This will host a series of performances prepared specially for us by the Wrocław Puppet Theater.
