All consuls issuing visas to Ukrainians in the Lutsk consulate were recalled on Friday morning after an inspection party sent by the Polish Foreign Ministry to Lutsk discovered "a number of irregularities,", the ministry said on Friday.

The ministry terminated employment contracts with all the consuls involved amid allegations of corruption.

The main charge against the consuls was that they treated some visa applicants preferentially to the disadvantage of others. According to media reports consular officers were overcharging for visas.

“We are sorry that a number of our employees jeopardized the image of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our friendly relations with our neighbors,” ministry’s spokesman Marcin Bosacki said.
