Article's tools:

Kordegarda Chopin 2010, a center for information on the Year of Chopin and related events, opened Feb. 27 on Krakowskie Przedmieście Street, Warsaw's prime tourist hotspot. Kordegarda Chopin 2010 gives out information to visitors about major Chopin-related events in Poland and abroad, hosts exhibitions on Chopin, shows Chopin-related films and plays recordings of concerts. It also has a tourist information desk. It is run by the Chopin 2010 Celebrations Office and the Warsaw Tourist Office.
Kordegarda Chopin 2010 was designed as a venue to encounter Chopin, his music and works by other composers who were inspired by Chopin. It advises tourists about events tied to the Year of Chopin and educates the public about various aspects of his life and work. Visitors can listen to recordings with Chopin's music, browse publications about Chopin and access the vast resources of the www.chopin2010.pl website.
Every month, Kordegarda Chopin 2010 opens a new exhibition with Chopin as the leading theme. The first exhibition, Meetings With Chopin, featured photographs by Edward Hartwig. The April exhibition is entitled Chopin's Guests-Warsaw 2010 and features art photography by Dominik Skurzak. The series of large-format photographs is a chronicle of Year of Chopin concerts that took place this year from Jan. 7 to March 1.
Kordegarda Chopin 2010 hands out folders about Warsaw and Chopin-related sites, leaflets outlining the Chopin Route and a monthly list of Year of Chopin events in Poland. It also sells books about Chopin, CDs with music by Chopin and Chopin memorabilia.
Screens placed in the windows display announcements of Chopin-related events and videos made specially for the Year of Chopin.
If you can play the piano and feel like giving a performance for friends or passers-by, you can use the on-site piano and play a piece by Chopin. The performance can be recorded on a CD that you can take home with you.
