OnlyWarsaw.com Joins WDA
The Warsaw Destination Alliance has welcomed a new member, OnlyWarsaw.com, an online video guide around Warsaw created for foreigners visiting and living in the city. Short videos prepared by OnlyWarsaw.com show many faces of Warsaw as an interesting, vibrant city with numerous charming spots to visit, both mainstream and off-the-beaten track places. The videos show not only the most popular tourist attractions, but also less well known places that are starting to be trendy today. They show the people who create the unique atmosphere of Warsaw and where to find the most delicious p±czki (donuts) or original Polish honey beer.

Each video has a Polish-English translation. Viewers can also vote for video topics they want to see. Each week new videos prepared by OnlyWarsaw.com will appear on the main page of www.destinationwarsaw.com. They will also be available at www.OnlyWarsaw.com, on YouTube and Facebook.

Chopin Lives
Celebrated all around the world, the Year of Chopin inspired the Warsaw Destination Alliance to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of composer Frederic Chopin with a mega event. As an initiative by the WDA, Chopin Lives, a simultaneous concert of 100 pianos, is planned for August, in what promises to be one of the most spectacular events of the Year of Chopin.

A press conference (pictured) dedicated to the Chopin Lives event at Warsaw’s Marriott Hotel April 1 attracted officials including Katarzyna Ratajczyk, director of the City Promotion Department of Warsaw City Hall; Culture Minister Bogdan Zdrojewski; Rafał Szmytke, head of the Polish Tourism Organization (POT); and Elżbieta Penderecka, wife of acclaimed Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki.

Chopin Lives is a special concert for 100 pianos that will be held on Warsaw’s Piłsudskiego Square Aug. 29. The concert is part of the Chopin 2010 series of national and international celebrations.

This WDA idea is supported by many authorities and institutions, including the chairman of the Chopin 2010 Celebrations Committee, Waldemar D±browski. The Chopin Lives concert and accompanying events are also supported by Calisia Pianos, the Polish Tourism Organization, and the National Frederic Chopin Institute. Zdrojewski as well as Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, Warsaw mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, the Polish ambassador to China, and the Chinese ambassador to Poland have all lent their names to the event.

Eurobuild CEE Conference
More than 120 investors, developers, hoteliers, city officials, architects and hotel service companies took part in the Eurobuild CEE Conference held in conjunction with the WDA at Warsaw’s InterContinental Hotel April 14.

The conference provided an opportunity to hear market experts and make important contacts. Topics included new niche tourist markets, latest trends in hotel interior design, financing new hotel projects, and the potential of social networking sites to attract hotel guests.

Shocked by the catastrophe near Smolensk, it is with deep sadness that we pay our last respects to The President of the Republic of Poland, Prof. Lech Kaczyński, his wife Maria Kaczyńska, and all the members of the Katyn delegation who died tragically.

Our heartfelt condolences and sympathy go out to their families and friends.
