The Medical University of Warsaw is one of the most rapidly developing medical schools in Europe. It combines a tradition of medical education dating back to the early 19th century with the latest biomedical research. The university has a strong position in both Polish and European academia and works with other universities and institutions around the world.

The university has a staff of over 1,500 outstanding teachers and scientists and over 9,500 students. The school provides education to young people using modern curricula and European teaching standards. The university takes part in international student and staff exchange programs as well as some of most important research projects carried out jointly with research centers around the world.

Studies at the Medical University of Warsaw are available to foreign students. Over 600 students from around the globe are studying in English in an international environment. The university offers 17 programs, including two in English.

The Medical University of Warsaw is a dynamic center of science and research with a reputation as a leading international center for research into the causes and treatment of diseases of the cardiovascular and nervous systems and research in gastroenterology, endocrinology, immunology, contagious diseases, and transplantation medicine. The university has been conducting intensive research on the causes and treatment of cancer. The school’s current priority is to establish a Center for Pre-Clinical Research and Technology (CePT), which is designed to become one of the most important centers for biomedical research in Europe.

The university has superb clinical and educational facilities. Faculties located at five university hospitals and 11 other hospitals in Warsaw rank among the top Polish and European clinics providing highly specialized services to patients.

The university is constantly developing and, apart from the Center for Pre-Clinical Research and Technology, is building a new library, a new children’s hospital, a modern Center for Physical Therapy and Sports, an oncology center, and institutes of psychiatry and dentistry.

The Medical University of Warsaw is one of the oldest medical schools in Poland. For 200 years it has provided education and training in medicine and pharmacy at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Its programs satisfy the highest international standards of university-level education and are based on the principles of good clinical and pharmaceutical practice.

The academic staff at the Medical University of Warsaw have gained national and international reputations for their contributions to the science and practice of medicine. Many of them hold the prestigious posts of National Consultants in different specialties.

The Medical University of Warsaw provides specialist referral, tertiary and general services and undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in its five affiliated teaching hospitals, which are also involved in scientific and clinical research:
- The Public Central Teaching Hospital;
- The Infant Jesus Teaching Hospital – Emergency and Trauma Center;
- The Public Ophthalmic Teaching Hospital;
- The Public Paediatric Teaching Hospital;
- The Duchess Anna Mazowiecka Public Teaching Hospital, a specialist gynecological and maternity hospital; and a number of clinical academic departments located in other hospitals in Warsaw.
