Frank London
Grammy Award winners Frank London and the Klezmatics band will play on open-air stage at Grzybowski Square on Sept. 1 while on Sept 2 the Jewish Theater will host a concert by Deborah Strauss, who cultivates traditional Jewish violin playing techniques, and Jeff Warschauer (guitar, mandolin, vocals), as part of this year’s ninth Singer’s Warsaw Festival of Jewish Culture (Aug. 25-Sept. 2).

London is regarded as one of the greatest performers to emerge on the Jewish music scene ever since the genre’s revival began two decades ago.

London is best known for his role as trumpeter in the New York City-based klezmer band The Klezmatics. He is also a member of Hasidic New Wave and leads Frank London's Klezmer Brass Allstars.

In addition to his work in klezmer music, he is in demand as a sideman, and has performed or recorded with many renown artists.

Deborah Strauss, one of the most accomplished musicians who cultivates traditional Jewish violin playing techniques. The duo she forms with Jeff Warschauer from the United States is regarded as one of the most prolific acts on the klezmer and Yiddish music scene.

For over 20 years, Strauss and Warschauer have been at the forefront of the international klezmer and Yiddish music scene. They were both long-time members of the Klezmer Conservatory Band, one of the premiere groups of the klezmer revival.

As the Strauss/Warschauer Duo, they have performed to overwhelming acclaim in numerous venues around the world. They lead some of the most popular klezmer music, Yiddish song and traditional dance workshops throughout North America, Eastern and Western Europe. They will hold a music workshop also in Warsaw.

The Singer’s Warsaw Festival of Jewish Culture is organized by the Shalom Foundation which since 1988 has worked to preserve the memory of the rich cultural heritage of Polish Jews. Since its inception, the festival has been dedicated in memory of Isaac Bashevis Singer, a brilliant Polish-born Jewish American writer whose international career won him two National Book Awards and the Nobel Prize in Literature.
