Poland will avoid recession and should enjoy some modest rebound in economic activity in mid-2013, Monetary Policy Council member Andrzej Kazmierczak told Catholic broadcaster Radio Maryja.

"There will be no recession, I'm certain," Kazmierczak said.

"We will still have a positive growth rate, but it will be crawling, it will be lackluster," he said.

A rebound in economic activity trends should appear in mid-2013, the rate setter said.

Poland's GDP growth slowed down to 2.4% in Q2 from 3.5% in Q1, data from the Central Statistical Office (GUS) have recently showed.
