Poles want public media to be financed by state - poll

Sixty-six percent of respondents in a recent CBOS poll opt for sponsoring public television from the state budget and 25 percent - from TV subscription fees.

The rest offered no opinion.

Seventy one percent are for financing public media from commercials while 24 percent voiced the opposite opinion.

Fifty two percent of the respondents oppose privatization of public radio and television, while 37 percent support privatization.

Fifty seven percent of households declared they paid radio and television subscription fees on a regular basis while 39 percent said they did not.
