Poland applies strict environmental norms in the area of shale gas extraction and uses a proven system of securing water-bearing deposits, Treasury Minister Mikolaj Budzanowski said after Brussels presented three reports on shale gas, one of which claims that current EU regulations do not guarantee safety of shale gas extraction.

Budzanowski called the report prepared by British AEA Technology "misleading the public opinion" and said that Poland will intervene concerning the issue.
