Google Named Most Valuable Brand

Google was named the world’s most valuable brand by a research firm that found the overall value of the top 100 brands has risen 4 percent to more than $2 trillion.

Google came ahead of other global giants, including IBM, Apple, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, and Marlboro, in the league table.

Google’s brand was worth more than $114 billion, growing 14 percent from 2009, according to the annual Millward Brown BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands report.

IBM saw its “brand value” surge 30 percent to $86 billion, while the worth of Apple’s name rose 32 percent to $83 billion, according to the report.

Microsoft ranked fourth with its brand valued at slightly more than $76 billion, just ahead of the nearly $68 billion that Coca-Cola’s brand was said to be worth.

Factors taken into consideration in the survey include customer loyalty and views regarding brands and how they influence earnings.
