Poland will lower its public debt levels as a percentage of GDP in 2012 from levels seen in 2011, Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski said Tuesday.

"Public debt [to GDP in PL accounting methodology] will surely decline this year," Rostowski said.

"Were it to happen that the decline in the public sector deficit will be less than expected, then the degree of decline in debt will also be lower," he told reporters.

Poland has most recently estimated that its public finance deficit will decline to 3.5% of GDP in 2012 and will be "even lower" in 2013, Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski told a news briefing on September 6.
