Idalia Kostrzewska, customer service director at the Marriott Warsaw hotel, has received the J. Willard Marriott Award of Excellence, the highest distinction given to employees of the Marriott International chain. The award is granted for exceptional attitude to and performance at work. Kostrzewska was singled out from 100,000 Marriott International employees worldwide.

Kostrzewska’s career with Marriott started almost 20 years ago, when she got a job as a hostess in a restaurant at the Marriott in Warsaw, the first Marriott in Eastern Europe. In the years that followed, Kostrzewska was the manager of different restaurants, bars and pubs and in 1999, she became customer service director. She has since earned a reputation as a person who always looks after new staff. “When we hire new people, I try to be honest with them and tell them customer service is not always an easy thing,” Kostrzewska said. “But when our work meets with a positive response from our guests, nothing can beat that.

The Award of Excellence was established in 1987 as a tribute to the founder of Marriott International. It is presented annually to eight employees of the Marriott chain, nominated by their bosses and colleagues for exceptionally good performance at work and for model behavior.
