Firms face problems with paying wages – Labor Inspectorate

Salary and work benefit arrears in Poland have reached PLN 138 million since the beginning of the year, up 39% year on year, the daily Gazeta Wyborcza writes citing the National Labor Inspectorate data.

The number of affected employees came to 87,000, up over 20% y/y. Of the 46,000 inspected companies, 11,200 had problems with paying their employees on time.

Arrears rose in all regions of Poland, with the highest sum (PLN 32.8 million) recorded in Gornoslaskie (lower Silesia region in southern Poland). The problem mainly concerns the construction industry.
