Poland's ruling party Civic Platform (PO) may introduce party voting discipline for the vote on the proposed changes to abortion act, the daily Rzeczpospolita writes citing PO caucus head Rafal Grupinski.

Right-wing grouping Solidary Poland submitted a bill proposing to ban abortion in the cases of suspected severe and irreversible damage to the fetus. At the same time, left-wing liberal party The Palikot Movement's bill envisages a complete lifting of the abortion ban.

PO will recommend to its MPs to reject both bills in the first reading as the current abortion regulations are too important a compromise to be changed, Grupinski said.
