Celebrating 4th of July

Almost 800 guests—American and Polish businesspeople, diplomats and their families—gathered at an event held by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Poland at Warsaw’s Królikarnia Palace July 3 to celebrate the 234th anniversary of American independence. The evening started with a presentation of colors accompanied by American and Polish anthem performances, followed by speeches delivered by U.S. Commercial Counselor Jim Wilson, AmCham Chairman Roman Rewald and AmCham Board Member Tony Housh. The special guest of the evening was Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Waldemar Pawlak, who also delivered a short speech.

The guests enjoyed an evening of live music, food and drinks. Other attractions included a show of lantern lights racing through the air celebrating AmCham’s 20 years in business, and a charity raffle. This year, in addition to helping children from nine orphanages and two single-mother homes across Poland, AmCham decided to donate part of its profits from the raffle to help the Great Christmas Aid Orchestra, a charity run by Jerzy Owsiak, and to support actress Ewa Błaszczyk’s “A kogo?” foundation that aims to help children in a coma.

The event culminated with a fireworks show.
