August 2, 2010
Article's tools:

The Cleveland Watkiss Quartet, the latest project of British vocalist, actor and composer Cleveland Watkiss, will be performing at Warsaw’s Kongresowa Hall Aug. 28.

Watkiss began his vocal career back in the 1970s, singing in local funk and reggae bands. He studied at the London School of Singing and later at the Guildhall School Of Music And Drama. Watkiss also co-founded the Jazz Warriors big band. Watkiss’s first solo album, Green Chimneys, came out in 1991. He now has five solo albums to his credit and is currently working on his next, titled Vocal Suite. Watkiss has supported acts like Cassandra Wilson and Abbey Lincoln. London’s Evening Standard hailed him as the “best male jazz singer in Britain.”
