Stars Lined Up for Music Fest
The Orange Warsaw Festival, now in its third year, will be held at the Służewiec Horse Racing Track on Aug. 28-29, although there will be a new format this year. Private TV network TVN has come on board as an organizer and entry will be by ticket.
The first day of the festival will be given over to alternative music. Topping the bill will be American group Hole and their charismatic vocalist Courtney Love (pictured), proclaimed by Rolling Stone magazine as the “most controversial woman in the history of rock.” British three-piece White Lies will be also be taking the stage, along with a strong Polish contingent comprising Kim Nowak, the Waglewski brothers’ latest project, and Kumka Olik, one of the country’s most promising new bands whose first album, Jedynka, was rated Poland’s most important debut for 2009.
The second day will focus on a more general audience. The stars of day two will include British singer-songwriter Mika, best known here for his hit “Relax, Take It Easy,” Aura Dione, an up-and-coming Danish star who blends electronica, folk, dub and pop, and Canadian vocalist Nelly Furtado.
The Orange Warsaw Festival will also feature an international music competition. The winner will be announced during the festival and will be awarded a prize to be donated by TVN and Radio ZET.
