Pakistan has been hit by the biggest floods of its history. The Prime Minister of Pakistan has launched an appeal for international assistance. Damage caused to the irrigation system, power lines, telecommunication, schools, hospitals, roads, bridges is beyond imagination. Following is the initial assessment of the damage caused so far:
Affected population: 12 million
Affected areas: 133,000 Sq. Km.
Houses damaged: 650,000
Deaths: 1,500
Injured: 1,120
The Pakistani and foreign community, humanitarian organizations, concerned individuals and agencies based in Poland are kindly requested to contribute generously to the Prime Minister's Flood Relief Fund 2010.
