Poland's Labor Ministry plans to change regulations concerning maternity allowances for women running businesses as current law opens the gate for financial abuses, the daily Gazeta Wyborcza reports.

At present, a number of mothers-to-be register an enterprise at the end of pregnancy to receive up to PLN 7,500 gross monthly allowance for half a year. The Ministry intends to diversify the level of allowance depending on the length of running the business.
