An exhibition of work by Polish painter Sławomir Toman is on display at the Farbiarnia Art Gallery in Warsaw Sept. 3-25. Toman, a graduate of art schools in Cracow and Lublin and the Ecole de Beaux-Art in Rennes, France, has had his paintings shown at galleries in Poland and France. His works combine tradition, modernity and the language of global culture. Borrowing generously from pop-art and hyperrealism, Toman defines his own style as photorealism, as he paints almost photographic depictions of iconic items of contemporary pop culture, such as toys, guns, bikers and dolls. He also tackles pop-culture icons like Michael Jackson. His paintings intrigue viewers with form and saturated colors.
