Over 5,000 nurses from all over the country held a protest in Warsaw on Friday, as they oppose commercialization of hospitals, demand introduction of employment standards and wage hikes.

A demonstration was organized by the Nurses' and Midwives' Union (OZZPiP) and the August 80 trade union "in the defense of the public health care system" after the Thursday meeting with PM Donald Tusk failed to conclude in constructive proposals.

Deputy health Minister Slawomir Neumann said after the meeting that his ministry was in standing talks with nurses but was "unable to resolve all the problems right away".
