Poland's power grid operator PSE Operator will have to start turning down motions for grid connection from wind energy producers as it has no more free capacity, according to a PSE Operator insider.

Sector representatives approach the news with calm, pointing out that the operator has repeatedly announced it had no free capacity for further connections.

Poland has so far issued permits for connection to the system of 17,000 MW in wind energy, as compared to 2,400 MW connected to the grid presently.

The system will not be able to service all issued permits anyway, renewable energy producer PEP CEO Zbigniew Prokopowicz said.
