The 16th International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition will be held in Warsaw from Oct. 2 to 23. Eighty-one pianists have made it through the April preliminaries to qualify for this year’s competition including favorites Ingolf Wunder, Yuma Osaki, Esther Park and Helene Tysman. The opening concert will be held at the National Philharmonic on Oct. 1.

The Orchestre des Champs Élysées, under the baton of Belgian conductor Philippe Herreweghe, will be performing Mozart’s Requiem at Warsaw’s Holy Cross Church on Oct. 17 as part of the events to mark the 161th anniversary of the composer’s death.

The competition prizewinners will be putting on a special concert at the National Philharmonic Chamber Hall on Oct. 21.
