Polish consumers may suffer higher energy prices as a series of regulatory changes that come into effect in January 2013 are likely to boost energy prices even by a dozen or so percent, the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna writes.

Starting January 2013, energy companies will be deprived of subsidies for using timber for energy production.

In addition, the new year will bring to life a system of white certificates obliging energy suppliers to energy saving investments, the daily writes.

The upcoming changes are likely to translate into prices increase for consumers.
