The Magic of Forensics is the title of an exhibition put together by the Museum of Technology together with the national police headquarters in Warsaw. The exhibition shows both the history of forensics techniques and the latest technology used to combat crime. The organizers say this is the first exhibition of its kind in Europe.

Divided into chronological and thematic sections, the exhibition features documents, uniforms and equipment used by pre-World War II police officers and items which were used in a typical a forensics laboratory in the early 20th century. Visitors can learn about the work of different kinds of forensics experts at individual stations which show the current state of knowledge and techniques used in fingerprint identification, genetics, photography, traffic accident investigation, and examination of documents. Other sections demonstrate how forensics experts investigate crime scenes. The skill of such experts is what determines the quality of evidence which undergoes lab tests. Videos screened at the exhibition show the work of experts from the National Police Headquarters Central Crime Lab filmed at their place of work.

Visitors to the exhibition can have their fingerprints taken and then take home copies on a special fingerprint sheet. They can also find out how a lie detector works.
