The Fourth “Sputnik Over Poland” Russian Film Festival will take place in Warsaw Nov. 4-12. Every year, the festival features the latest productions and most daring art house movies from Russia along with classic pictures made during and after the Soviet era. The special guest of this year’s festival will be Russian filmmaker Alexei Balabanov, the director of Brother, Brother 2 and Cargo 200.

Comprising around 100 movies, this year’s Sputnik Over Poland festival will mark several anniversaries of major importance to Russian culture, including the 150th anniversary of the birth of Anton Chekhov, 65 years since the end of World War II, 30 years since the death of Vladimir Vysotsky and 20 years since the death of Viktor Tsoi, the legendary frontman of the Kino group.

In November and December, the festival will tour 20 major cities in Poland, including Cracow, Białystok and Lublin. For further information about the festival go to www.sputnikfestiwal.pl
