Soulfly, a U.S. band that plays a cross of groove, thrash and nu metal, will play Warsaw’s Stodoła club Nov. 3.

Soulfly was founded in 1997 by vocalist and guitarist Max Cavalera a year after he left his previous band, Sepultura. The original lineup included drummer Roy Mayorga, guitarist Jackson Bandeira and bass player Marcelo Dias.

The band’s debut CD, Soulfly, was released in May 1998 and featured guest performances by the likes of Fear Factory vocalist Burton C. Bell and Limp Bizkit lead man Fred Durst. After that, the lineup changed gradually, with only Cavalera remaining from the original band after two years.

Soulfly’s second album, Primitive, was released in 2000. This time guest performers included Slayer vocalist Tom Araya, Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor and the Deftones’ Chino Moreno. Subsequent releases Om (2002), Prophecy (2004), Dark Ages (2005) and Conquer (2008) as well as numerous concert tours turned Soulfly into one of the best bands in its genre.

The Stodoła concert will feature Max Cavalera (vocals, guitar), Marc Rizzo (guitar), Joe Nunez (drums) and Johny Chow (bass) promoting their latest album, Omen, released just this May.
