Italian car manufacturer Fiat will terminate production of the Panda model in its plant in Tychy, southern Poland, as of next year, the daily Gazeta Wyborcza wrote citing a statement by Fiat.

“In spite of the fact that the Panda Classic has been produced here for nine years, the company has decided in this case to end production by the end of the year,” Boguslaw Cieslar, a spokesman for Fiat told PAP Polish news agency.

Panda accounted for 30% of the plant's output and hence its production may fall to some 250,000 cars a year, automotive industry expert Wojciech Drzewiecki told the daily.
