Perfect Time for Moya Brennan
November 30, 2010
Article's tools:

Irish folk singer, harpist, and Clannad lead singer Moya Brennan will be appearing at the Salesian Fathers Basilica in Warsaw on Dec. 1 to kick off a Music of Ireland concert series.

Brennan will be performing well crafted arrangements of songs inspired by Irish folk music and lending her passionate and sensitive voice to Clannad’s greatest hits.

Brennan’s musical career began at the end of the 1960s when her brothers Pol and Ciaran Brennan and uncles Padraig and Noel Dugan formed Clannad, the group that was to go on to achieve worldwide fame with albums like Magical Ring (1983), Legend (1984), Macalla (1985) and Lore (1996). Brennan’s younger sister Eithne, nowadays better known as Enya, worked with the group briefly (1980-1982). Clannad was commissioned to write the music for the series Robin of Sherwood (1984-1986) and their song “I Will Find You” was written specially for The Last of the Mohicans (1992) soundtrack.

Moya Brennan opted to leave the group to begin a solo career in 1992. She now has 10 albums under her own name, including Perfect Time.

She has worked with such musicians as Alan Parsons, Robert Plant, Van Morrison, Paul Young and Ronan Keating. U2 frontman Bono admires Brennan’s voice and remembers first hearing Clannad’s music in the early 1980s while driving. He was so overcome that had to pull over for fear of causing an accident.
