Onninen provides comprehensive materials services to contractors, industry, public organizations and technical product retailers. It is a family-owned company and has operated in the industry since 1913. It has over 3,000 employees in its Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, Polish, Russian, Baltic and Kazakh operations. Its net sales for 2009 totaled 1.34 billion euros.

The founder of Onninen, Mr. Alfred Onninen, started out as a plumbing contractor in Turku in 1913. In the 1920s the business diversified into heating and plumbing wholesale, gradually extending into different parts of Finland. The company went into ventilation and electrical contracting as well as wholesale of ventilation and electrical products more than 30 years ago. Internationalization, which began in the 1970s in the form of project exports, has continued for more than a decade through organic growth and through acquisitions.

Onninen operates all around Poland and employs almost 700 people in over 30 outlets here. Distribution and warehousing are the basis of Onninen’s operations. Its logistic system and distribution center have been organized in ways that serve different divisions and satisfy customers’ daily needs. Customers can also use an online shop (OnnShop), which offers all the Onninen warehouse products and technical information.

Our mission is to provide technical goods and services in order to improve our customers’ businesses with value-adding business and service concepts. For our suppliers, we can provide a channel of products and information to their final customers. In essence, Onninen’s business is about helping its customers to focus on their core business.
