Fado, My Fado...
December 30, 2010
Article's tools:

Audiences in the southern city of Zabrze Feb. 15 will get to hear genuine fado, a music genre considered the national treasure of Portugal and frequently compared to the Argentine tango and Spanish flamenco. The Dom Tańca i Muzyki (Music and Dance Center) venue in Zabrze will host a concert by Mariza, the greatest contemporary performer of fado—songs filled with passion, sorrow, jealousy and regret.

Upon the release of her debut album, Fado en mim (2001), Mariza was hailed as the successor of Amalia Rodriguez, the most famous fado singer in history. Mariza has since given concerts at the most prestigious venues around the world, winning the most important music awards.

During the concert in Zabrze, Mariza will sing songs from her latest album entitled Terra (Earth).
