December 30, 2010
Article's tools:

A panel of judges chaired by Mirosław Bałka, one of Poland’s leading contemporary sculptors, Dec. 14 selected the design for an exhibition pavilion that will be used during ceremonies accompanying Poland’s completion of its rotating presidency of the EU in December 2011.

The winning design is by the Olafur Eliasson Studio from Germany. Other architectural studios that entered the competition were from Poland, Spain, Chile, Slovenia and Germany.

The pavilion will host artistic presentations, meetings and educational projects, the judges said. It can be easily disassembled and transported so it can be shown in many locations in Poland and abroad.

The competition was organized by the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw and the National Audiovisual Institute, the coordinator the National Cultural Program of the Polish Presidency.

All designs submitted to the competition are on display until Jan. 31 at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw; 3 Pańska St. open Tue.-Sun. noon-8 p.m. admission is free
