Hurts, the synth-pop duo from Manchester, UK, that took the world by storm in 2010, is playing at the Stodoła Club Jan. 22.

Hurts comprises Theo Hutchcraft accompanied by synth player and composer Adam Anderson. The BBC spotted them and, predicting a bright future ahead, placed them fourth on their “BBC Sound Of 2010” list of promising artists.

Hurts’ debut album Happiness came out in 2010. The single “Wonderful Life” taken from it was one of the most frequently heard songs on radios everywhere. The song “Devotion,” recorded with Kylie Minogue, also comes from the album.

Critics say that Hurts’ music has been influenced by groups like the Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode and Tears for Fears, although they stress that it is in no way derivative. Hurts themselves explain that they share a fascination with the Italian disco scene.
