A new exhibition aims to explode the myth that a well-designed object has to be pricey.

The exhibition, called Wzornictwo za 4 złote. 1 Euro Design, at the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw, sets out to show that readily available mass-produced items can have just as much going for them by way of good design and high quality as their limited-edition cousins.

The exhibition comprises 63 well designed but inexpensive objects.

“There is a whole slew of beautiful and brilliantly designed things all around us, in supermarkets and internet stores,” says Beata Bochińska, head of the institute. “We want to show visitors how to choose them and get a feel for their esthetic worth.”
