Over just three years, the annual European Economic Congress in the southern Polish city of Katowice has grown to become one of the most important economic events in Central Europe - according to not only the event's organizers but also participants. This year's Congress will be held for three days in May and feature:
  • a series of more than 100 events including debates and meetings;
  • around 500 panel discussion participants, including business leaders, politicians and experts;
  • 4,500 conference participants from Poland and abroad, including senior central and local government

officials, parliamentarians, public administration officials, executives from the most dynamic companies and institutions, as well as media personalities and other opinion shapers.

EECAs every year, the Congress' Program Council is headed by Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament and a former prime minister of Poland. This year's Congress will be held in Katowice May 16-18.

According to the organizers, the PTWP SA group, this year's Congress will address pressing economic and social development issues. The leading topic of this year's event will be the competitiveness of the European economy and a new economic order for the EU, as well as the problems of Central and Eastern Europe.

Also discussed will be issues related to the EU's climate-energy package and its influence on the economy. Debates will be held on the common EU energy policy, innovation, and the relationship between economic growth and the development of regions and cities. Sessions and panel discussions will cover a broad spectrum of economic issues and topics relevant to the
economy and public life.

This year's Congress is a not-to-be-missed event for the most enterprising business executives. Just like the Economic Forum in September, the May event in Katowice brings together all those who are aware that good communication and even better personal contacts are as important as money in business and the economy.
