January 3, 2013
Poland's purchasing managers' index PMI edged up to 48.5 pts in December from 48.2 pts in November, a PMI report by HSBC showed.
"The PMI remained below 50.0 for the ninth successive month in December, but rose for the third month running to 48.5, indicating the weakest overall deterioration in operating conditions since July," the statement read.
Most of the categories continued to fall although at a more modest pace.
New orders declined, production fell for the eight consecutive month, reduced output requirements resulted in further employment reduction, purchasing activity was also down, the researchers said.
Manufacturers reduced output prices for the fifth time in the last six months although average input prices went up.
