Poland launched on January 1 the central register of the insured CWU and a program called e-WU¦ allowing public healthcare institutions to check online if the patient is entitled to free health service.

In practice it means that now a patient needs only to show his ID to be able to make an appointment with a doctor within the national health service. Before everyone had to show a special document from ZUS Social Insurance Office.
