Majority of Poles want their country free of GMO - survey

As many as 65% of Poles oppose the cultivation of genetically modified organisms (GMO), while 22% think otherwise, a CBOS survey showed.
Some 42% of the opponents support a total GMO ban.

Although most Poles regard GMO cultivation as an achievement of science (66%), they also believe that it may result in the emergence of new diseases and allergies (76%), intensify some diseases (71%) or trigger uncontrolled genetic changes in humans (67%).
