January 17, 2013
The authorities of the Polish capital have cancelled, after strong protests from internet users, the lease for a pub to be named Fritzl's Cellar after an Austrian criminal who locked his daughter in a basement and raped her over a 24 year period, after strong protests from internet users.
The pub that was to be opened this Friday in Warsaw's most prestigious and elegant Nowy Swiat street used the incest pervert's face as its logo and featured his daughter Elisabeth on its website and launch Facebook page.
Wojciech Bartelski, head of Warsaw's Srodmiescie borough said Wednesday that he had notified the prosecutors about violation of the ban on public promotion of crime.
The owner of the pub could face up to one year in prison if convicted.
