Car rental company Avis, a leader on the short-term hire market, is celebrating 20 years in Poland and a jubilee celebration was held at the Belvedere restaurant in Warsaw on May 20 to mark the occasion.

The Danish ambassador, Thomas Østrup Møller, gave a special address, as did Wiesław Rozłucki, a former long-serving president of the Warsaw Stock Exchange and one of the architects of the Polish capital market. Representatives of the tourist and car fleet industries were present, along with Avis’s business partners and biggest customers.

“Avis opened its first office in Poland 20 years ago,” said Radosław Lesiak, Country Manager Avis Polska. “It operated in a completely different world from today and used completely different technology. Avis’s development today is all about new contacts, continuous growth and improving the services it has to offer. A lot of the companies we work with have been with us since we opened our first office and a lot of our staff have been with us for years. Another thing that hasn’t changed is our adherence to the ‘We try harder’ philosophy.”

Avis is one of the largest car-rental providers in the world, offering both passenger cars and delivery vans for hire. The company has been in Poland since 1991.
